National Cooking Day 2024

As a school over this half term, each class has completed a different cooking task in celebration of National Cooking Day which was on 25th September. Here is what we all got up to!

EYFS were tasked with designing and making a fruit salad/kebab for a healthy picnic snack.

Year 1 designed a sandwich with a chosen type of bread, a filling that needed to be mixed and a salad for Teddy Bear’s Tea party.

Year 2 had to design a new vegetable soup to serve at a lunch for members of the community e.g. senior citizens or parents. They had to make a soup that would suit those following a vegan diet or those that are allergic to nuts.

Year 3 had to design and make a fish pasta bake for someone’s tea without using certain ingredients such as mushrooms, courgettes or lactose.

Year 4 designed an egg-based dish and a side salad for a lunch guest. They were asked to create an annotated design as well as complete market research to find out what people would like in their side salads.

Year 5 were tasked with designing and making a fruit crepe and creating a cross-sectional diagram of the fruit crepe.

Finally, Year 6 designed and made an individual savoury pie which they then designed a package and an avert for using computer-aided software.
