Ribble Drive Community Primary School

Be the best you can be

Headteacher's Message

On behalf of myself, the staff, governors and pupils, I am delighted to introduce you to our new website which I hope will find clear, informative and easy to navigate.  It is designed to give you a flavour of the vibrant life of our school, the work of our pupils and the quality education we strive to deliver.

It is a great honour and privilege for me to be the Headteacher of such a wonderful school. Having been the Deputy Headteacher of Ribble Drive, I am fully committed to its community and will continue to strive to ensure that the school serves our local children and their families well.

I believe that primary school memories should be amongst the best a person has. It is a time when children have great enthusiasm and a thirst for discovery and learning.  It is our challenge at Ribble Drive to make the most of your child’s potential at this crucial time. I want all of our children to enjoy their time here and to be enthusiastic about learning, leaving the school at the age of eleven, as confident young people with a love of learning. We will nurture and encourage pupils, and hopefully inspire them to be active participants in their own development and education.

It is also part of my vision that all our children are filled with positive experiences, that they are aware of the endless possibilities that await them and that they are nurtured in order to develop within them, a confidence to embrace whatever comes their way.  Underpinning the above, is my relentless commitment to ensuring that the children of Ribble Drive possess the values that enable them to live well in society,  and prepare them to deal effectively with the challenges that the modern world presents.

All of my staff share this vision and recognise children as unique individuals with specific talents and needs. They work tirelessly to provide a varied and engaging curriculum and a positive school experience. You’ll find our classrooms to be hives of activity and full of creativity and learning, making Ribble Drive a special place indeed for children.

We aim to provide a lively, creative curriculum to challenge and motivate our pupils and enable them to participate in a range of high quality learning opportunities within a safe and secure, happy and stimulating learning environment. Our educational philosophy is based on the provision of excellent teaching and learning opportunities, with a view to develop not only each child’s full academic potential, but also to help them to develop as well rounded individuals who show care, compassion and respect to everyone in our school, local, national and global community.

Ours is a caring school where the children are warmly received and encouraged throughout their time with us to ‘Be the Best they can be,’  fulfil their potential and engage with all the opportunities the school has to offer. We value good behaviour and aim for the children to leave the school as tolerant, responsible youngsters who consider the effect of their actions on others.

I hope, like me, you feel strongly that we will achieve our educational aims for our children in partnership. I know that children learn best in an ethos of praise, encouragement and challenge. I cannot stress the importance of pastoral care at school and support from home to a young child’s confidence and security.  Growing self-esteem allows our young people to give respect, take responsibility and show confidence and tolerance.

Family and community are extremely important to me and I look forward to developing close links with all your families, supporting you in any way I can.
