Be the best you can be

Year 3

Hello and welcome to the Year 3 class page. This is where you will find all of the information about our learning this term!

In English we will be reading Minnow and the Bear by Ben Blathwayt, The Friendly Mammoth by Anna Terreros-Martin, How to wash a Woolly Mammoth by Michelle Robinson, Life in The Stone Age by Deborah Lock and How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr Seuss. All of these texts link to our history topic The Stone Age.

In Maths we are focusing on addition and subtraction. The children will recall and build upon their prior knowledge from KS1.

In History, our topic focuses on The Stone Age, within this term we will have the chance to study the longest period of human history which spans approximately 3.5 million years. In order to study Prehistoric Britain, we will use evidence such as artefacts- objects large and small that humans left behind as evidence of their lives. Our art topic will link to this and we will focus our learning on pre-historic artwork and using similar materials and techniques.

In Science, we will be learning about Rocks. In our topic we will compare and group together different kinds of rocks, describe how fossils are formed when things that have lived are trapped within rocks and recognise that soils are made from rocks and organic matter.

In PE, Coach Jasmine will be covering dance and in Technola, we will be expanding our knowledge using new and interesting apps!

We are also lucky enough to have Music with Mr Martin this term in preparation for our Christmas Concerts.

Please keep checking this page to see our fabulous work!
