Be the best you can be

Year 3

Hello and welcome to the Year 3 class page. This is where you will find all of the information about our learning this term!

In English we will be reading Mavis the Bravest by Lu Fraser, Errol’s Garden by Gillian Hibbs, Chasing Rainbows by Gabby Grant and The Invisible by Tom Percival. All of these texts link together to encourage the discussion of overcoming terrible situations.

In Maths we are focusing on place value and addition and subtraction. The children will recall and build upon their prior knowledge from KS1.

In Geography our topic focuses on ‘Why do some earthquakes cause more destruction than others?’, within this term we will learn why it is that earthquakes only tend to occur in particular areas of the world as a consequence of the pattern and movement of the tectonic plates of the Earth’s crust. Once we have completed our geography topic, we will move onto our history topic ‘The Stone Age’. Here we will have the chance to study the longest period of human history which spans approximately 3.5 million years. In order to study Prehistoric Britain, we will use evidence such as artefacts- objects large and small that humans left behind as evidence of their lives.

In Science, we will be learning about Dark and Light. In our topic we will discuss reflections, light sources, dangers of light sources and patterns in the way that the size of shadows change.

In PE, Miss Jasmine will be covering invasion games and in Technola, we will be expanding our knowledge using new and interesting apps!

Please keep checking this page to see our fabulous work!
