Reception
Welcome to the Reception page!
What a fantastic start to the year we have had getting to know all of you and your families. We have loved discovering what makes each of you unique and special.
This term, Reception’s main topic is Real or Not Real, inspired by books such as On our way home, Funny Bones and many more. We will also explore Winter, Chinese New Year, Eid, St Georges Day, Shrove Tuesday, and Easter, celebrating the similarities and differences of each occasion and understanding why these celebrations are important. We will continue our writing journey by creating lists, captions, and sentences, focusing on CVC words and enjoying lots of fun learning activities.
In Maths, our focus will be on numbers to 10, subitising, simple addition and subtraction, and 2D and 3D shapes, using the White Rose approach and the Spread the Happiness Classroom ethos.
Reception will also continue to take part in our wonderful Music lessons with Mrs Higson and develop our gross motor skills, turn taking, and coordination with our PE coach Nathan.
