Be the best you can be

Year 3

Hello and welcome to Year 3!

This is where you will find all the information about what is currently going on in Year 3:

Our English this half term begins with non-chronological reports and the children will have the opportunity to write reports and brochures about both fictitious animals and holiday resorts.

Our Science topic, Animals including Humans will include building on prior learning, looking more closely at food and nutrition as well as how skeletons and muscles help us -and some other animals - with support, movement and protection.

In History, we will be continuing where we left off before half term, when we came to the end of the Stone Age topic.  We are now studying the Bronze Age, finding out about some of the key changes that took place and how they shaped people’s lives.

We have recently been working very hard on addition and subtraction but have now moved on to multiplication and division in maths.  We will also be learning more about fractions, whilst continuing our daily ‘Basic Skills’, ensuring we keep practising the 4 operations (+, -, x, ÷).

In our weekly PE lessons with coach Jess, the focus will be Tennis and the theme of this half term’s Art lessons is: Sculpture and 3D: Abstract Shape.

Finally, the question we will be asking in our RE lessons on a Thursday afternoon is: How do festivals and worship show what matters to a Muslim?

These are just the main subject focuses for the half term; there are so many additional things going on from day to day so please do keep checking Class Dojo for updates!
